The Internet Is Howling Over the Irony of Lea Michele Witnessing Alex Newell's Tony Win

The internet’s obsession with the beef between Alex Newell and Lea Michele has reignited because of the 2023 Tony Awards. What came about?

If you wish to have drama, look no further than the Broadway scene. Theater kids know how to make a scene, both on and offstage. So it’s no surprise that at the back of the scenes of the 2023 Tony Awards that some red meat had to get squashed. And it’s even much less unexpected that that beef is related to the drama queen herself, Lea Michele.

During the 2023 Tonys, other folks couldn’t assist however tweet about Tony winner Alex Newell and their longstanding supposed beef with Lea Michele. Both actors have been on Glee, and Alex is now the 3rd Glee actor to win a Tony Award and the first nonbinary person to win the award. Lea, on the other hand, has zero Tonys. So what’s the red meat?

Fans temporarily remembered the beef between Tony-winner Alex Newell and Broadway big name Lea Michele on Twitter with several hilarious tweets. One tweet mentioned, “Lea Michele was once in the room when anyone else from Glee gained a Tony.” Another said, “The WAY Alex Newell simply WALKED BY Lea Michele… Kicked up that DUST [crown emojis].”

Some folks even said that Alex known as Lea out for being racist, but that’s not fairly what happened. Back in 2020, all over the peak of the Black Lives Matter motion, Lea tweeted her make stronger. This prompted several other Glee cast members, including Alex, to respond in support of Samantha’s claims. Alex tweeted the RuPaul’s Drag Race “Get her, Jade” meme, and Dabier tweeted that Lea “WOULDNT [sic] LET ME SIT AT THE TABLE WITH THE OTHER CAST MEMBERS CAUSE 'I DIDNT [sic] BELONG THERE.'"

It’s a known rumor that Lea didn’t deal with her fellow Glee solid participants well, so it’s unclear if there’s to any extent further beef between Lea and Alex beyond Lea’s common mistreatment. Even still, fanatics are enjoying the incontrovertible fact that Lea has never gained a Tony and was ineligible for one at the 2023 Tonys since she changed Beanie Feldstein in Funny Girl.

At the time of the accusations in opposition to Lea, she made a statement sharing her intent to be informed more and to be kinder to those round her.
