It's protected to say issues have been a little bizarre at the moment, so in case you are like me, you're turning to TV for a dose of normalcy. But if you are a fan of New Amsterdam, issues have no longer been standard in any respect in recent years. Namely, it is been a minute since we saw a new episode. It didn't air at all on March 24 and the March 31 episode is a rerun.

Did we one way or the other leave out the New Amsterdam Season 2 finale amid all... this? Is the season done now? I have excellent news and dangerous news for you.

The 'New Amsterdam' Season 2 finale is yet to come back, but it's coming.

There is one more episode ahead of the season comes to a close, but it won't air until April 14. Originally, there were intended to be two more episodes, but the penultimate episode was once shelved as it comes to the health facility dealing with a pandemic — a topic that's a bit too with reference to home for all of us, and specifically for the cast.

Originally called "Pandemic" after which renamed "Our Doors Are Always Open," the episode noticed the general public hospital dealing with a deadly flu, but the content material no longer simplest mirrors truth a little too much, but taking the episode to air felt specifically just like the fallacious move given its particular guest big name Daniel Dae Kim has reduced in size the novel coronavirus, as have a author and 3 of the display's staff contributors.

Series creator David Schulner decided, "the world needs a lot less fiction right now, and a lot more facts," as he mentioned in an essay for Deadline.

The episode, which used to be written through David Foster in 2019, used to be meant to turn what can occur if a pandemic overburdens a sanatorium like New Amsterdam, which is based on NYC's Bellevue Hospital. Apparently, the episode was so at the nose, David felt it was now not what other people wish to see presently.

"We shot a fictional pandemic episode right before a real pandemic hit," he writes. (*2*)

However, with the disaster being ongoing and even involving participants of the solid and team, Schulner is aware of shelving the episode if the appropriate transfer for at this time.

"New York State now accounts for seven percent of the world’s infections. And by the time you read this, it will most likely be more. The images we put on screen, of New Yorkers fleeing parks, autopsies in makeshift labs, are hard to watch. Some would say exploitative. Some would say in bad taste. Now they won’t say anything. Because the mirror has been taken down. For better and for worse."

The 'New Amsterdam' pandemic episode might air sooner or later... but now not any time quickly.

Schulner says while the episode may not be airing this month, they will eventually want to unencumber it. "I know most, if not all of us want this episode to air. We poured our hearts and souls into it. And it will air. Just not now."

Even then, he is aware of people will bring to mind it as capitalizing on the disaster we are recently in, but that many will really feel comforted by means of seeing their revel in reflected again to them. And it is transparent the episode was once conceived well earlier than someone knew about COVID-19 and shot prior to the threat in the U.S. was impending.

It's unclear whether or not the other last episode will want to be re-edited by some means for the sake of tale continuity, but lovers will get to see how the season wraps up on April 14 when the 'season 2 finale airs in the series new time slot of 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
