Ryan Phillippe, who plays real-life FBI agent Lance Leising, also had some ideas about the movie’s attainable consequence. He couldn’t communicate to Leising due to the case still being open, so Phillippe needed to take his own liberties with the role.
“If this film’s noticed and it starts a conversation, maybe this man will get dropped at justice,” he stated. “I believe Leising’s frustration, even staring at the movie. I would like this guy to get stuck, just for the persona I play."
